Postcards: Rails and Chimneys

2015

These pictorial representations were crafted by melding 3D rendering techniques, photographs, newspaper archives, and publications. They've been layered across various planes, with vertical elements taking center stage. The collages aim to deconstruct the imagery of these ruins, placing them in unexpected, utilitarian, implausible, or merely proposed settings. The images challenge viewers to consider the current role of these industrial elements in the evolving processes of urban conversion, their potential for valorization, and the pressing need to view them as elements warranting protection.

The towering elements are perceived as the "tip of the iceberg" of significant subterranean structures (roots) anchoring vital vertical components. These punctuate Santiago's residential urban dimension like sprouts, seemingly frozen in time.
